Breaking Chain

What is "breakthrough"? It is the breaking of chains on your life. It is the release of strongholds over you. It is the release from the hold Satan has had on you.

Strongholds come in all shapes and sizes. They come in the form of anger, bitterness, hurt, addiction, and many others. Breakthrough is the point in which you know that "_______" (you fill in the blank) no longer has a hold over you.

Our church just went through a season of 21 days of prayer and fasting. Lives have been changed, walks with the Lord deepened and breakthroughs have been made.

God does not want us to live in bondage. God wants us to let go and let Him have the control. God has given us the power to bind and loose things here on earth. Matthew 16:19 tells us, "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

To bind means to forbid.
To loose means to release.

When we are in bondage to anger, bitterness, jealousy, hurt, unforgiveness, we are held in chains. We must bind up these things in our life and take authority over them. We must loose the positive, the opposite of them, over our life – joy, happiness, understanding, appreciation, forgiveness. When we do, and we surrender them to the Lord, we then experience breakthrough, that peace that passes all understanding.

For me, it was as if the individual I had let have power over me in my thoughts was now behind a brick wall, and that person could no longer have power over me. The sound of the person’s name did not raise up ill feelings in me. I was no longer able to dredge up the details of the past incident. It no longer mattered. Why? Because I had surrendered it fully to God.

We all struggle with strongholds in our life at one time or another. Are you struggling with something? Are you struggling to "let go and let God"? It’s time to let go. Come to the throne of grace and surrender to Him. Join in prayer with a friend. The Bible tells us in Matthew 18:20, "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." Something also happens when we confess our sins one to another. We are humbled. Sometimes we are set free right at that point because we have been humble and shared it with another.

God wants us set free. Reach out today, don’t wait any longer. Your breakthrough is waiting.
