Oh My, I can’t believe it…
It is amazing how time flies. It seems like just yesterday my sweet baby girl was born. That is not reality though. We recently celebrated her 10TH birthday. Why is this so hard to comprehend? Oh yeah, because time just seems to FLY by the older I get!!!! Anyone else feel the same way?
Hubby and I remember our parents telling us to not be in such a rush to grow up because it will be here before you know it. Funny, we are telling Julie and Captain America the same thing. Some things just do not change. Young ones are so eager to grow up and be an adult and adults are holding on for dear life to slow down time!!! Sound familiar?!?!?
Julie decided that she wanted to have a slumber party this year. (We did this a couple of years ago and had 7 girls stay the night, learned from the first time!!!) She was able to invite her three closest friends. Why three? Including Julie that gave us 4 girls, an even number, no one is left out. (Learned that from one of my friends! She is sooo smart!!!)
Julie wanted to plan her whole party including the games, what the girls would do, what we would eat, etc. I decided I would do the planning and keep it all a secret! It was torture for Julie!!! I saw this idea on Pinterest and adapted it for Julie’s party.
I decided to turn our balloons into a scavenger hunt. The girls arrived at 5pm. There was a clue in each balloon as to what we would be doing. Shortly after 5 the girls got to pop the first balloon and read the clue.
After the girls popped the first balloon, they read the clue…
“I’m hot and spicy. I am a dish that you eat. What am I?”
The girls were trying to figure out what the clue meant and I told them to get the balloons and head to the car. They were shocked! They didn’t realize we would be leaving the house!!! The girls loaded up, buckled up, and we were to the end of the driveway before they figured out we were going to Chili’s.
The girls and I headed to Chili’s and had dinner. We colored, talked, played a “What if?” game and of course there were lots of giggles!

We finished dinner and headed outside to pop the next balloon. (I apologize the the other patrons sitting outside that jumped out of their skin.) The girls did think this was a lot of fun!
The next clue read…
“A race around the track or a stroll along the green. What am I?”
The guesses were the park, a golf course and then Julie shouted Putt Putt! Yep, we headed to the miniature golf course! One of my dear friends and Aunt K to my children met me there and I was so glad! I didn’t think that some of the girls had never played miniature golf before! She was a huge help. One guided and the other had crowd control! These are four really well behaved girls, but it was my responsibility to get them all home safely to their Mamas. My mother hen instinct was on high alert!
We first played some arcade games and then we hit the green!
Julie playing “Deal or No Deal” She loves this game!
A lot of tickets were won from this little baby!
And it just isn’t right to play arcade games without a little Skee Ball!
N rescuing her ball from the bushes!
C getting a little guidance from the golf pro, Aunt K
Mom even got a few swings in! Yep, my feet is all you get when I have the camera!!!
Aunt K and Mom even had a little fun of our own! Don’t ask, it was just a moment!
After miniature golf it was time for a group photo…
And then for the next balloon…
Unfortunately we had a case of the missing clue. It miraculously disappeared!!! Thankfully, Aunt K spilled the beans!!! We headed to frozen yogurt!!!
The clue would have read…
“I’m yummy in your tummy and cool to the touch. What am I?”
L not wanting a pic again
The better pic of Julie was blurry . She really was enjoying herself!!!
After frozen yogurt, we headed out to pop the last balloon. (Sorry no picture!)
The clue read…
“It’s time to wind down and relax a little… Enjoy a little cinema. What am I?”
This was the funniest response of all and the least favorite clue. The plan was to head home and the girls would watch a movie. I got moans, groans and “Not the Bed, it’s evil!” It was 10:30 at night and we did have church in the morning. By the time we actually got home the girls only had 40 min before they had to go to bed. So a movie was not watched. They played and enjoyed each other’s company and were diligently in bed for midnight!
Overall the night was a success. The girls wrote me a sweet thank you note the next morning thanking me for the best party ever. It was a super sweet note that would warm any mama’s heart!
Happy Birthday to my sweet Julie. I pray that you will seek God’s will for your life and choose to serve him with every fiber of your being. I pray that your heart and soul will be set on fire for the Lord.
I love you so much!
